Alcohol and Medication Interactions

Many types of drugs can create harmful interactions when they are taken with alcohol. This includes over-the-counter and prescription medications as well as illegal or street drugs. Symptoms of interactions between alcohol and a medication can range from fatigue or dizziness to even coma, heart attack, or death. Many factors, including the user’s body chemistry, amount of time between ingestion of the two substances, how much medication is taken, and ingredients in the drug determine what the outcome will be.

Treatment Programs Improve When Rewarded

Addiction treatment programs that were paid money based on their success rates ended up providing a better quality of service and more accountability. Brain Can Repair Itself In Alcoholism Recovery

Research from the Journal of Neuroscience shows that addicts’ brains may be able to repair the damage caused by alcoholism and alcohol abuse when they quit drinking. This study was performed at the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
