It’s a very frequent misconception that conquering drug addiction is simply a matter of willpower and therefore anyone should be able to do it if they want it badly enough. Many people simply see drug addiction as a weakness of character or a social problem, going so far as to characterize people who are drug addicts as somehow morally weaker than others.

Drug addiction can ruin people’s lives. It is often those closest to the addict that have the best chance to help them get addiction recovery. The addicts loved ones often hesitate. Not saying anything until a tragedy has occurred. It is often difficult to know what to say, and when to say it. There are professionals that can help you by leading your intervention. No one drug is better or worse than another. They all damage us physically. They can all lead to death. They can harm those who use them as well as impairing the user to the point that they can cause harm to those around them. They all lead us places we never imagined.
