Crystal Meth and a Meth Addiction
April 21st, 2008 by jgold454

Crystal meth is in the amphetamine family. The main difference between crystal meth and amphetamines, is that crystal meth lasts longer in the body and it is far more toxic.
It goes by many names, including ice, glass, rock, but it is harmful no matter what it is called. It can cause insomnia to the user, it can caused increased physical activity, and it can lower the appetite. For long term users, it can even cause psychotic behavior. In 2004, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that nearly 12 million Americans had tried a form of methamphetamines. In 2006, they showed that 731,000 Americans were current users. Not just a trial use, but actual users. These numbers are astounding. There are many options for a drug user, and many options for a drug abuser. They can try to quit on their own. It is much harder to go it alone, but not impossible. Or they can give themselves a higher chance of success by getting treatment in a treatment center. A meth treatment program starts with the detox process, then the rehabilitation process. Give recovery a fighting chance by getting help.
The detox program is painful and hard. No one said it would be easy to recover, but it is a way to survive. By continuing to abuse crystal methamphetamines, there is no guarantee that you will survive a hit. Fight for survival. It is one of our most primitive instincts, after all.
