Does a Person become Completely Cured from a Drug Addiction after the Detox Program

A drug addiction treatment that includes a drug detox program is definitely a very intensive form of treatment. It is only used for people who have been consuming the drug for a long time, or in a large amount, because in these people the drug must have built up to toxic levels in the body.
Medications need to be used to eliminate these toxic residuals of the drug in the body. This process of elimination of the toxins from the body with the use of chemicals is what is known as a drug detox program. As already said, a drug detox program is very intensive. Since this is the first time since the addiction that the person will be kept away from the drug, it will cause the person’s body to react violently and manifest its discomfiture in a number of symptoms. This is what is known as the withdrawal. You can say that it is because of the withdrawal symptoms that the drug detox program is considered so very significant.
But the question is; does a person become totally sober after a detox treatment? Now that would actually depend on the nature of the person’s addiction. If the addiction is too rigorous, then just one detox program won’t do. Some people who are into heroin addiction are known to have ten to twelve detox programs just to remove the heroin that’s housed inside their bodies.
Some people even have relapses after they are discharged, which makes them start consuming the drug once again. If that happens, the person will need detox programs again.
The crux of it all is that it is not necessary that a person will need only one detox program to become completely healthy again. However, it all depends on the nature of the person’s addiction and willpower as to many detox programs he or she will have.
