Michigan is acutely aware of its growing alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction problem, and it is no surprise that the state is taking some strict measures in order to ensure that the alcohol is used under restrictions within the state. Here are some of the measures that are put in place by the state government to fight against the problem of alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction in Michigan.

There are several restrictions put on the happy hours that most restaurants and bars keep in their establishment to encourage more visitors. Michigan has policies on how many happy hours can be kept per week, and it can also prohibit some establishments from keeping happy hours if it flouts the rules.

The driver’s license is awarded to people only after the person adheres to certain rules and restrictions on alcoholism, one of which is zero tolerance policy and restrictions on underage drinking.

The authorities are also vigilant of the shops and establishments that sell alcohol. There is a very keen eye on establishments that sell alcohol to underage people. Another interesting restriction is brought about by making it mandatory for keg buyers to register their kegs. This helps the authorities to keep track of where their kegs are being used.

An important part of prevention of alcohol addiction in Michigan and the problems arising from it is putting the responsibility of the consumption on the server as well as the drinker. If a person causes an injury or death under the influence of alcohol, then the person who served the alcohol to the inflictor is also apprehended. This also applies to social hosts who may provide alcohol at private parties and functions at home.
