A meth addiction is something that sounds more serious than others. If someone says that they have an alcohol addiction problem, many ship them off to AA with hopes of a changed life.

If someone has a problem with marijuana, they are seen as nothing more than a “stoner”. They see it as a problem, and will try to stop it, but it is not seen as something that is an immediate danger. It becomes more of a belief that they are ruining their life, and the quicker that they can get over the drug addiction, the better. Meth addiction, however, is a completely different beast.Meth addiction can cause more harm than many realize. While a meth addiction can affect every aspect of someone’s life, one aspect that they do not consider is their friends. Many feel as though their friends who surround them understand the meth addiction (and may even take part of it). The issue is, however, the fact that there are good friends who become thrown to the wind due to the meth addiction. One the drug abuse starts, money becomes an issue; they may borrow money from their friends only to refuse to pay them back. Because of the mood swings that may come from people who have a meth addiction, they may berate and batter their friends with words.

They may become increasingly violent with them. When things like this begin to happen, friends begin to feel as though they see someone else; they can’t recognize the person they were friends with in the first place. For someone to get over a meth addiction they need their family and friends; they need that support system. A meth addiction can seriously ruin all of the friendships that they once had. This can make it that much harder to get over.
